1506634_705706762889955_71016197927532779_nWhat better way is there to end the school year than by attending the annual TETA International Conference in Tuzla? The same thought led English Language teachers from all corners of Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as the region (Croatia, Slovenia, Serbia, Macedonia, and the colleagues from the associations in these countries – HUPE Croatia, IATEFL Slovenia, ELTA Serbia, and ELTAM Montenegro), to come to our wonderful city and enjoy the amazing learning atmosphere under the motto „Creating A Real-World Connection“, which was the title and our main mantra for this year’s edition of the conference.
10378063_705704979556800_7441898255705245556_nWe had the supreme pleasure of welcoming and learning from top experts in the English Language Teaching field: Maggie Sokolik, Professor at the University of California, Berkeley, USA; Philip Kerr, teacher trainer, lecturer and materials writer based in Vienna, Austria; George Kokolas, teacher trainer for Express Publishing in Athens, Greece; Višnja Pavičić Takač, a Full Professor at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences in Osijek, Croatia; and Eric Bergman, trainer representing Pearson, UK.
We also had the opportunity to attend insightful presentations from our colleagues in the field, ranging from teaching cultural awareness, literature, incorporating great games and music into our classroom practice, to understanding modern challenges in teaching. After the first conference day, we all mingled at the special TETA evening, won some prizes and sang our heart out.
Speaking of prizes, we are forever grateful to our partners at SOL – Sharing One Language, and director Grenville Yeo, for always participating in our conference, introducing teachers to their great programmes, and offering a chance to our colleagues to go to Devon and Slovakia/Serbia to attend SOL summer camps for teachers and students. This year, three of our TETA colleagues (two students and a teacher) won SOL prizes and the unique SOL experience – congratulations and thank you, SOL!

Last but not least,  a sincere thank-you to all of you attending and contributing to the conference – in the end, all we try to do is for you, dear colleagues.
Here are some photos from the conference:

We hope to see you all again in Tuzla next year!
